Womens Hearing Voices Group

Who is the group for?

This group is for women who experience voices, visions or other unusual sensory experiences. It is open to those who live or work in Manchester and its surrounding areas.

The group is super casual, where we meet with hot drinks and snacks. There is no expectation for you to stay for the whole time either.

Common questions

Is a referral needed? Nope! You can turn up on the day. If it would help you to feel more comfortable, you can email us beforehand but this is not needed.

Do I need to talk in the group? Absolutely not, you can use the space in whatever way feels most comfortable for you. We often have people attend the group who prefer to listen to the conversations happening without talking themselves.

Can I bring someone to the group? We welcome friends and family to the drop-in group. You are welcome to bring someone along to the support group, however they may be asked to wait outside if this is what the group feel more comfortable with on the day.

We have two types of groups that run on the 1st and 3rd Thursday every month, and then meet ups outside of these.

Support group (1st Thursday of the month) We usually start the group with a little check-in where we talk about what we have been up to since the last group, and any themes we might want to talk about. We then try to talk about the themes that different people have mentioned in their check-ins. Some themes that we have spoken about in the past are: Learning distractions Knowing when to rest. Anxiety Relationships We then usually check-out, where we talk about how the group has felt and what we’re up to after the group.

Drop-in (3rd Thursday of the month) This is a lot more casual, where you can drop by to chat or ask questions. Friends and family are welcome.

Meet ups We also meet up for activities like the cinema, art galleries etc.

Where? The group meet at the Friends Meeting House in central Manchester. 6 Mount Street Manchester M2 5NS
